The engine of our great city, Local 416 Certified Industrial Millwrights like Balvinder Bhela, in City of Toronto’s Solid Waste Division, are responsible for the maintenance and repair of equipment that make up part of the roughly $600 million in Solid Waste Assets across the City’s numerous maintenance and operating yards, transfer stations, hazardous waste depots, and organics processing facilities.
Certified and specialized skilled trades workers like Balvinder provide the technical expertise to help meet operational efficiency standards, and extend the life of our assets – while supporting the collection, receipt, processing, composting and transporting of our City’s garbage, recycling, organics, yard waste, electronics and household hazardous waste collection programs – 24 hours per day, 365 days a year.
